Finding the right reporters

Our database has 100K+ journalists, 5M+ podcasts, and 100K+ newsletters. Here's how to find your perfect matches.

Good searches

  • "AI startups TechCrunch"
  • "fintech Series A reporters"
  • "climate tech podcasts"
  • "healthcare newsletters"
  • "B2B SaaS journalists"

Won't work well

  • "John Smith"
  • "reporter who wrote about my competitor last week"
  • "best journalists"
  • "someone at Forbes"

Search tips that actually work

Start with your topic, not a name

Search for what they cover, not who they are. "AI healthcare" beats "tech reporters".

Add outlet names for precision

"fintech TechCrunch" or "climate Axios" narrows results fast.

Try different angles

Your story might fit multiple beats. A B2B AI tool could be "enterprise software" or "AI tools" or "SaaS".

Check recent coverage

Reporters who covered similar stories last month are more likely to respond.

Don't over-filter

Start broad, then narrow. Too many filters = missed opportunities.

Building your media list

Tier 1: Dream targets (5-10)

Big outlets where coverage would be amazing. TechCrunch, Forbes, major podcasts. Hardest to land but highest impact.

Tier 2: Strong fits (10-15)

Trade publications, industry newsletters, mid-size podcasts. More likely to respond, still valuable.

Tier 3: Quick wins (10-20)

Niche blogs, smaller newsletters, local publications. Easier to land, good for building momentum and backlinks.
